We’ve put together some high quality sets of coins from all over the world. These sets aren’t just accumulations of old coins but are beautiful collections of coins from all different countries. The first set has 100 coins from 100 different countries.  The second set has 200 coins from 200 different countries.  Over ninety five percent of the coins will be in choice uncircultated condition.  The remaining coins are nice circulated coins with good detail, minimum wear and no defects.  This is a wonderful set of coins to build on or to enjoy as a completed collection.

World coins make great collections because they are fun to study, to learn the history and geography of each country and because they are very inexpensive. They are often available and sold by the pound.  These hoards usually have an abundance of Canadian and Mexican coins, the remainder are heavily worn and unattractive.  A few pounds of these will yield coins from two or three dozen different countries and many duplicates of the same coins.  This is not a fun way to collect.  We tried it and I can tell you my daughter had no interest in these same old dirty coins.  Coin dealers buy these and put them in their junk boxes for a quarter each. That’s why they are called junk boxes.

I decided to start a collection of world coins with my daughter as a hobby we could share together and to keep her interest in coins.  Junk box coins are easy to find but that’s not what I wanted for our collection.  We wanted some nice uncirculated or attractive circulated coins from as many countries as we could find.  The coins are not terribly expensive but we found that nice coins were very elusive to find.  It takes a lot of time and a fair amount of money, a lot more than we are asking for this set, to put together a collection from this many countries.

We’re having such a good time with our coins that I thought others would like to enjoy this hobby.  I can tell you now that these sets are not easy to put together and take a lot of time to find and a good deal of money to inventory. 

These coins did not come from coins-by-the-pound, hoards or junk boxes.  For the most part, these coins come from original rolls of choice uncirculated coins. There is a world of difference in collecting and enjoying high quality coins where you can see the minute detail and original mint luster just as they came from the mint along with a few high grade circulated coins that are still in collectible condition.  Remember, over 95% of this set are in original brilliant uncirculated condition.

We are selling the 100 coin set for $32 and the 200 coin set is priced at only $59.  That is only 29 1/2 cents a coin.  Whoa, that’s junk box prices for choice original brilliant uncirculated coins! We may need to re-think this.  It sounds like we’re giving these away.  Oh well, it’s too late now.  Just remember who treated you right.
